BeauSoleil Louisiana Solar Home The University of Louisiana at Lafayette is competing in the 2009 U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathalon. The goal of the Solar Decathalon is to generate new ideas in homebuilding that reduce energy requirements for new home construction. It is a competition between 20 college and university teams to build the most marketable and energy efficient solar powered home. UL's team, the BeauSoleil Louisiana Solar Home, will build a home that is culturally expressive and will advance traditional homebuilding in our region. The goal of the team is to build a home that will generate enough power to fulfill a typical homeowner's needs.BeauSoleil Louisiana Solar Home website: http://www.beausoleilhome.org To see a 9 minute video on the Beausoleil project, check out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsuziBrNeO4 Department of Energy Solar Decathalon website: http://www.solardecathlon.org/ |
